Space Trap by Monica Hughes
Following on with the Science Fiction theme we have ‘Space Trap’, with its beguiling image of a rural robot driving a space ute across a barren desert landscape. I bet this robot listens to Elvis as he zooms down that highway in his space ute. Ofcourse alien planets have roads and vintage cars!!!
But what’s that?…if you look closely, a dead mans body??
I know..I know, it’s captivating already and you haven’t even read the blurb.
Space Trap
There was a blackness with no space and time, no breath and heartbeat…her throat had shrunk into a hard knot the way it does during a nightmare. But it wasn’t a dream. When she comes to her senses, Valerie is a prisoner, crouched on the floor of a cage and surrounded by people poking at her through the bars – strange people with snails’ eyes, waving about on stalks.
And she knows she has been a victim of the Space Trap. Spirited millions of parsecs away from her home galaxy to an outlaw planet, Valerie must escape or spend the rest of her life in the primate Zoo – or worse, become the subject of terrible experiments in the humanoid Laboratory.
But first, she must discover the secret of the Space Trap…
